Srimad Sudhindra Thirtha Swamiji
Born
on 31.3.1926 as the fourth son of Sri Ramadas Shenoy of Ernakulam, Kochi, he
completed his primary education in Ernakulam and joined Maharaja's College for
intermediate course in the purvashrarn (before becoming Swamiji), His name was Sri. Sadasiv
Shenoy and his family belonged to a
religious and orthodox G.S.B. community of Ernakulam His
mother passed away when he was four years old. H. H, Srimad Sukriteendra
Thirtha Swamiji (Guru Swamiji of Srimad Sudhindra Thirtha Swamiji) was in
search of a right Sishya (disciple) to adorn the post of' 'Utharadhikari'of
Shri Kashi Math Samsthan. After pursuing Various horoscopes of eligible
Brahmacharis, the name of Sri. Sadasiv Shenoy was selected. The Sishya Swikar
Cerernony was held at Mulki on 24.5.1944. Thus Sri. Sadasiv became H. H.
Srimad Sudhindra Thirtha Swamiji, the 20th Pontiff in the line of Shri.
Kashi Math Samsthan. H.
H. Swamiji was taught by learned Scholars in Brahmasuthra, Vedas, Upanishads
and the Gita at Sri Bhuvanendra Samskritha Pathashala, Karkal where
Swamiji
attained mastery over all religious books and languages, More
than half a Century has elapsed Since H. H. Sudhindra Thirtlia Swamiji
took over the reins of the Kashi Math Samsthan. This period should be written
in golden letters in the history of the G.S.B. community in particular and
Hindu Samajl as a whole. Hundreds Sri.
Ashta Kuladevatha. Temple at Ambalamedu in Kerala and Sri. Vyas Mandir
Prathishta at Haridwar stand out among them. The Kashi Math Welfare Fund, Sri.
VedaVyasa Charitable Trust are institutions completely under the direct
control of H. H. Swamiji, doing yeoman service to the society in the
spiritual,
educational and health fields. Shri.
Bhuvanendra Balakasram at Basrur, Shri Varadendra Balakashram at Arnbalamedu
and Sri Sukriteendra Balakasram at Karkal are the educational institutions providing
free food, education, medical aid etc. to the poor students who will have
accommodation facilities too in these Asrams until they complete their
studies. Shri Bhuvanendra Vradhasram
at Ambalamedu takes care of old aged persons. These institutions are under the
control of Shri Kashi Math Samsthan. A
Small beginning made in the field of Athura Seva by starting Sree Sudhindra
Medical Mission Hospital in 1971 at Emakulam has now become one of the best
and reputed Hospitals - a classic example of H. H. Swamiji's
blessings. Sri Swamji is the chief patron of the Hospital and the
administration of the hospital is carried out under Swamjji's guidance by the
nominated members. Near Vyasasram ' Haridwar, a modem hospital started
functioning in the name of Sadguru H. H. Srimad Madhavendra Thirtha Swamji,
the 7th pontiff of Shri KashiMath who had attained "Jeevan Mukthi"
at Walkeshwar, Mumbai 225 years back. Dr. Padiyar Memorial Homeopathic
College,
Chottanikara and Sri. Sukriteendra Oriental Research Institute at Thammanam,
recognised by the University of Kerala where students do their P.hd. course
are also belonging to Shri Kashi Math Samsthan. Maths have been set up and renovated in various religious centres like Kashi, Haridwar, Prayag, Rameswaram, Thirupathi and Goa and in cities like Mumbai, Madras, Bangalore and Ambalamedu in Ernakulam. Kalpi.Shri Kashi Math was constructed in 1998 at Dist. Jalaun in U. P. the very birth place of Bhagavan Vyasa on the banks of the river Yamuna. This untiring deteimination and spiritual power guided all, especially G.SB. community in attaining the present stature. |
