Muharram Festival Page |Bakrid| EID| Hajj| Miladi Sherif| Muharam Muharram is not a celebration but a mourning period observed by every Muslim. It commemorates Karbala battle and the death of Hazrat Imam Hussain, grandson of Prophet Muhammad. This battle of Karbala was fought against the tradition of Islam and between two rival cities in Arabian Peninsula, which led to the merciless death of Hazrat Imam Hussain. People mourn the tragedy which occurred decades ago on this day. Scenes from the battle are enacted in Mosques and Islamic women remove all their jewels and mourn. Processions are held by men where, they beat with chains on their bare chest. People wear black clothes and attend prayers (Namaz) in Mosques. |
