Undergraduate Admissions will be based on SAT subject test scores. (Subjects: Mathematics
Level 2, Physics and Chemistry). For more details on SAT Subject Tests visit website:
www.collegeboard.com. SAT subject test score has to be sent directly through CollegeBoard
to NITK (Institute Code: 6530). SAT subject test scores received till May 31, 2014 only will be
considered for preparation of the first, second, third and fourth round merit lists.

DASA 2013-14

The following decisions are taken in the DASA stake holders meeting held on 26.11.2012 at MHRD New

Delhi.

1. SAT II ( SAT Subject Test )scores (Physics, Chemistry and Maths Level II) only will be used for

merit list preparation.

2. Valid SAT II scores, till May 2013 exam which must reach NITK Surathkal electronically through

College Board USA, using DI code 6530 on or before 29.05.2013 only will be considered for first

3 rounds of merit list preparation.

3. Schedule of admission is as follows.

Middlemen/Mediators for DASA Programme    IMPORTANT

Candidates are hereby informed that NITK Surathkal has NOT entrusted/appointed anyone as a mediators or middlemen to either encourage candidates to apply for DASA programme or to collect fees/commissions guaranteeing the seats. Candidates should not believe anyone who approaches them promising anything on behalf of NITK Surathkal or DASA office. Contact DASA office for any such attempts by anyone. If candidates contacting anyone, claiming to be DASA agent, would be doing so on their own risks and NITK cannot be held responsible for this.

Residential Eligibility for NRI candidates under DASA 2013-14 admissions

The residential requirement for DASA 2013-14 is relaxed from 3 years to 2 years for NRI candidates with a additional condition that candidate must pass the qualifying examination (inclusive of 11th and 12th standard or equivalent) from abroad only for the DASA 2013-14 admissions

DASA PG Progamme (for MTech/MBA) Announced

DASA PG (Post Graduate) Programme 2013 is also announced. Please read brief details and salient features, eligibility conditions, fee details, participating institute details and the schedule in the DASA PG 2013 brochure . The launch of online application form for DASA PG Programme will be on May 10th, 2013.

Nepalese can use IFSC code for transferring money in Rupees

Candidates from Nepal can pay in Rupees (INR) using IFSC code: CORP0000133 and Account No. 013300101049225. Candidates should use SWIFT code only if they are paying in US Dollars. Please pay INR equivalent of the applicable tuition fee (that is equivalent of USD 7250 for non-SAARC or USD 3750 for SAARC candidates). If paying through Demand Drafts, please make DDs payable at Mangalore.

Submission of 12th Marks Cards

Candidates may please note that if 12th marks card is already available, they can attach copy along with the hard copy of the application form. If not available, they can sign the undertaking in the online application form. Note that the 12th Marks card should be submitted at the time of admission or latest by 15th September 2013 , failing which the provisional admission will be automatically cancelled .

Downloaded Application Form

Downloaded online application form with signatures of candidates/parents and with required attachments, along with tuition fee payment information should be sent by courier/speed post to DASA office at NITK Surathkal.

Payment Details

The complete fee (tuition fee of USD 7000/3500, as the case may be, along with processing fee of USD 250) should be sent to NITK Surathkal for considering the application. Incomplete or applications without complete fee will not be considered for allotment.

Candidate's Portal

Candidates are informed to look at their portal after sending the completed application forms, to view the status of their application form processing. These will updated only after receipt of the forms. They can also view the SAT scores received at DASA office from CollegeBoard.

Change of "preferences"

Candidates are requested to fill in the preferences of institutes/courses carefully after consulting their parents/guardians. Please make sure that the preferences are upto your satisfaction (using the "Preview" feature) before you submit the online application form. Please note that once the application form is submitted online, DASA office will not entertain any changes in the preferences any further.

DASA 2012-13 BROCHURE

Admissions for Foreign Nationals / Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) / Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) under Direct Admission of Students Abroad (DASA) Scheme for undergraduate engineering programme for the Academic Year 2012-13 to National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology(IIITs) and other Premier Technical Institutions in India.

 

Admissions Under DASA Scheme 2012-13

In the current global scenario India is emerging as a knowledge super power with a large pool of technically qualified professionals.
 

Traditionally, the Indian education system has been known for quality of education, coupled with low cost of education delivery and living, making it an attractive destination for international students to come and study in India.
 

Students contemplating to study in India can be assured of experiences rich in traditions, heritage and exposure to diverse culture. This would also entail being part of the transition to a modern open knowledge economy, making new friends from around the world and most importantly receiving internationally recognized qualifications. Indian educational system offers world class education through wide range of general and specialized courses relevant to the needs of the world.
 

The admission of Foreign Nationals / Persons of Indian Origin/ Non-Resident Indians to undergraduate programs in Centrally Funded Institutions (CFIs) is being offered under DASA (Direct Admission of Students Abroad) scheme from the academic session 2001-02 onwards. The Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India has entrusted the coordination of the admission process under DASA scheme to NITK, Surathkal from academic year 2010-11 to 2012-13. Till date students from more than 30 countries have been admitted under DASA.
 

The admission process is entirely online, and requires a candidate to fill an online application form and make payment of fee electronically. In addition a signed print copy of the online application form along with necessary documentary evidences has to be submitted to NITK, Surathkal within the prescribed date.

 

Academic Eligibility

Candidates must have passed the qualifying examination, i.e. Senior Secondary [10+2] or equivalent from any system of education as

recognized by the Association of Indian Universities with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects and any one of these (Chemistry, Bio-technology, Computer Science, Biology) as optional subjects.

AND

Must have secured a minimum of 60% aggregate marks or 6.75 CGPA on a 10 point scale or equivalent grades in all the subjects of the qualifying examination. Candidates appearing for the qualifying examination with the above-mentioned compulsory subjects by 25th May 2012 and expecting their final results latest by 15th September 2012 may also apply.

AND

Candidates should have a minimum total score of 1440 in SAT Subject Tests (subjects: Maths level II, Physics and Chemistry). For more details on SAT Subject Tests (also known as SAT II) visit website: www.collegeboard.com. SAT subject tests score has to be submitted online through CollegeBoard to NITK Surathkal (designated institute code : 6530). SAT subject scores received till May 29, 2012 only will be considered for allotment under first merit list.

 

Fee Structure & Fee Payment

Registration Fee and First Year Tuition Fee: An amount of US$ 7250 [US Dollar Seven thousand Two hundred Fifty only] towards non- refundable registration fee of US$ 250 and first year Tuition Fee of US$ 7,000 is required to be paid along with the application form. Foreign nationals from SAARC countries (except India) seeking admission through this scheme shall be allowed 50% Tuition fee waiver. They are required to submit an amount of US$ 3,750(which includes US$ 3,500 towards first year tuition fee and a nonrefundable registration fee of US$ 250).


The fee can be paid either through Bank Transfer or Demand Draft or e-payment. Charges for fee payment, if any, should be borne by the candidates.

 

Submission of Application

The submission of application is a two stage process, both are essential.

(i) Online application (http://www.dasanit.org) and Submission of signed print copy of the application along with required documents and payment details.

 

(ii) SAT subject test score to be sent to NITK Surathkal through CollegeBoard (designated institute code 6530)

 

Seat Allotment Procedure

Seat allotment will be based on SAT subject test scores and the choices given by the candidate, in the order of their merit and priority taken together.
